Lonny Webb, MSW, LCSW, embarked on his professional journey in 1991, commencing with an internship at the Idaho State Hospital in collaboration with Boise State University. This early experience laid the foundation for a distinguished career in forensic and clinical social work, fueled by a deep-seated commitment to making a difference. Lonny holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Social Work degree with a clinical focus, both earned from Portland State University.
Early in his career, Lonny made significant impacts in various domains, including clinical and managerial roles within the Oregon Department of Corrections. In these positions, he played instrumental roles in clinical services, behavior support plan development, vital psychological assessments, and forensic involvement, notably in risk assessment with the Board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision. This experience provided him with a profound understanding of behavioral, developmental, and cognitive psychology, making him a highly sought-after professional.
In 2007, Lonny founded Neurobehavioral Concepts, a private clinical practice that remains active and vital in the community today. Initially, this practice contracted with Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington County’s mental health and developmental disability services and later became independent. This venture highlighted Lonny's unwavering dedication to providing expert clinical services to individuals and families, emphasizing his evolution and adaptability within the field.
In 2013, Lonny founded Mindworks, further expanding his range of services. Mindworks intertwines insights from neuroscience and education. Utilizing his extensive experience and academic foundation in Psychology and Clinical Social Work, he applies interdisciplinary knowledge, blending elements of the medical model with educational practices to enhance support for staff and students. This initiative epitomizes his vision of uniting neuroscience advancements with education, emphasizing evidence-based practices for improved learning and development. Active engagement in professional growth activities maintains Mindworks' innovation, fostering enhanced education and psychological well-being, ultimately propelling positive change at the intersection of neuroscience and education. In 2017, Phil Knight, co-founder of Nike, provided funding for a six-year initiative known as Black Dog Solutions under the MindWorks umbrella. This initiative significantly enhanced Lonny’s capacity to offer professional services, strategically positioned at the juncture of mental health and education, to rural school districts in Oregon.
Moreover, Lonny is deeply involved in the field, serving as a member of the Oregon State Family Law Advisory Committee (SFLAC), Subcommittee on Domestic Violence. This role highlights Lonny's dedication to researching critical issues concerning family law and the courts, with a specific focus on domestic violence matters. His influence goes beyond the field, significantly impacting the trajectory of forensic social work and the lives of those he serves.
